Sun Burns Out

THREAT: The Sun burns through the hydrogen fuel in its core. It balloons into a giant red star, its surface expands to the size of Earth's orbit, cooking anything in its path.

REALITY: If the Earth survives planetary threats from nuclear bombs, asteroids and gamma-ray bursts, it won't survive the end of the sun, 4 billion or 5 billion years from now. That's still plenty of time for many millions of generations to identify new threats and survive them.
