<p><strong>Total Settlement:</strong> $16.3 million<br /><strong>Disgorgement:</strong> $13.3 million<br /><strong>Penalty:</strong> $3 million

The <a href="http://www.sec.gov/news/press/2011/2011-158.htm">SEC alleged</a> that liquor giant Diageo, maker of Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, and Tanqueray, violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the law that covers international bribery and corruption cases. Diageo, in Edinburgh, Scotland, was accused of handing out $2.7 million in bribes to government officials in South Korea, Thailand, and India.</p>
