Randy Newman

If songwriter and composer Randy Newman's Oscar-winning percentage were a batting average, he'd never leave the bench. He was nominated 17 times -- including music for "Ragtime," "Toy Story" and "Pleasantville" (left) -- before he won an Oscar in 2002 for a song in "Monsters, Inc." He lost three more times before winning again last year for a song in 2010's "Toy Story 3."
