Hypnotherapy

The argument for hypnosis is that it puts you into a relaxed state and makes you better able to cope with withdrawal symptoms. According to a study completed by Timothy Carmody at the San Francisco Veteran Affairs Medical Center, smokers were treated for two 60-minute sessions and then received three follow-up phone calls and two months of nicotine patches. Of those who went through hypnosis, 26 percent were abstinent after 6 months, compared with 18 percent who got standard behavioral counseling.
